A potted history of Broad Plain RFC.

Broad Plain RFC itself is a well established Club, having celebrated its centenary in 2009.

The original sports club was (and still is) based in east central Bristol, hence the name - Broad Plain is an area in the vicinity of Old Market.

The team played at various sites around the city before finally 'landing' at a permanent home just off St John's Lane in Bedminster, on grounds that were previously Robinson's sports grounds, and even further back was the home ground of Bristol South End FC, who changed their name to Bristol City when they moved to their present home at Ashton Gate.

In 2006 the Club moved into this brand new facility with an excellent clubhouse and extensive grounds.

Many would say its nothing to be excited about, but this month Broad Plain RFC were crowned champions of gloucester 3 - an achievement worth celebrating seeing as the club have not won promotion from any league since 1994.

With a young side at the helm and an average age of just 23, 'The Plain' dominated the league with style.

Defeat is yet to befall the team so far, with maximum points gained from every game (even though Gloucester all blue's seem to believe differently).

551 points have been notched up so far by 'The Plain' which is also a great achievement, with two games left to play if a 100% victory record is secured it will be a feat that not even the mighty Hartpury College could manage.

Bags packed and Gloucester 2 on the horizon.
